Answer to Prayer
Christians are engaging in social causes and impacting the lives of millions. With social programmes once provided solely by the government but now often absent in a privatizing economy, the Church offers a platform to address these needs. Some faith groups form NGOs or serve communities in a less structured manner. The gospel confers strength in Jesus to face life’s challenges and to demonstrate love for others in Christ-like service. For an additional 8 Answers to Prayer see Operation World book, CD-ROM, or DVD-ROM.

Challenge for Prayer
Most of the small indigenous Mongolian and Altaic peoples are shamanistic. Many are resentful of the Chinese “takeover” of their homelands. They are being caught up in the harvest that is coming as a result of the move of God. Among the Daur, Christians number at least 1,000 and growing. Pray for missionaries to commit their lives to reaching these peoples in sensitive and appropriate ways. Most peoples, such as the Hezhen, Bogol, Khakas, Kyakala, Olot and Saman, total only about 15,000 people. For an additional 2 Challenges for Prayer see Operation World book, CD-ROM, or DVD-ROM.

Challenge for Prayer
There are many needs in the Church and challenges facing believers:a) Persecution continues to be prevalent and often severe. Pray for perseverance and endurance, especially for house church leaders who are especially targeted.
b) Pseudo-Christian cults are many and active in Henan, more so than in any other province. Cults such as Eastern Lightning use false teachings, kidnapping, brainwashing and the structures and methods of criminal societies to prey upon members of house church networks. These occur more easily here due to limited biblical knowledge among believers, lack of solid teaching and prevalent poverty and human need.
c) The primarily rural church networks need to figure out how to deal with the major trend of migration/urbanization as well as the need for a transition of leadership from the faithful founders of their movements to a younger generation. Pray for wisdom and grace for all involved.
