Answer to Prayer
Third Wave Pentecostal groups, strongly evangelical, have become a major element in the African Church. They are strong on the Scriptures and outreach, expectant of miracles, fervent in prayer and courageous against the powers of darkness. The Redeemed Christian Church and Deeper Life Bible Church were both started in Nigeria and have planted churches in dozens of countries. Challenge for Prayer
Disease still looms as a deathly spectre over Africa. A higher proportion of infants, children and adults are lost to disease in Africa than anywhere else. Tens of billions of dollars in productivity are lost each year to the effects of disease upon the working population. Of specific concern are:a) HIV/AIDS. Although no longer at its peak infection rate, HIV still afflicts nearly 23 million people in sub-Saharan Africa alone. In some areas, up to one-third of the adult population were infected. This region accounts for 68% of new infections among adults, 91% among children and 72% of AIDS-related deaths. Life expectancy fell by half in parts of southern Africa. A staggering 14.2 million children have lost one or both parents to AIDS. Entire communities and economies have been decimated. NGOs, including many Christian ones, have done much good work in education, prevention, treatment and care for those at risk or already suffering. Still, the Church needs to rise up, break the stigma associated with AIDS and minister life and truth to Africa. Ample opportunity exists to eradicate this plague within one generation; a UN report states that if HIV still infects millions of Africans by 2025, it will not be because there was no choice, but because of a lack of political will. Pray for wise and firm decision making; pray as well for the changing of sinful behavioural patterns that allow for AIDS to persist and spread.
b) Malaria, though a much less “glamorous” disease than AIDS, is even more destructive to Africa’s health and welfare. Malaria kills a child on average every 30 seconds; this is more than twice as many as HIV/AIDS claims and just as debilitating to the population’s strength and wellbeing. More than $12 billion in output is lost each year. The cost of widespread prevention (largely through mosquito nets) is a mere fraction of that amount, yet less than 5% of Africa’s children sleep under nets. Treatment-resistant strains of malaria are emerging, making prevention all the more vital. Pray for greater attention to be paid to this disease that steals, kills and destroys, and for greater action mobilized to eradicate it.

A.F.W.I.S. State of the
Ministry Report 2012
Greetings in the name of Yeshua,
2012 was filled with
blessings and challenges. The blog reached over
100,000 hits and we saw hits from places like China, Hong Kong, Philippines,
India, Australia and Russia. The Holy Spirit surly is blessing our devotional
blog. We also connect with Operation World. I love this because it opens our
eyes to every country of the world and gives us the chance to pray for them and
see just what the needs are for that country; we will do that again this year.
2012 brought about the creation of
the Musical page on Facebook. It turned out that this past year we had the
passing of several people we know and friends of people we know, and music
plays such a big role in healing and comfort, so I saw a need for friends of
mine to be able to go to a place and get uplifting music they could trust and
not need to think about it. So that is why I did that.
2012 also saw the creation of the
Partners page on Facebook. This is a page that we will post updates to our
prayer partners and a place where you can easily post a note to us if you like.
2013 I am eager to see what
Papa God has for us to do this year; I am sure it will be filled with
excitement, I can already tell. Papa has given me some glimpses of some things
to come along with some challenges and changes in our life and ministry, Praise
God.
I love to spend time with Papa; being
able to develop that constant form of communication with HIM has been time well
spent. I realize that Papa is the answer to all my problems. No, I do not live
in a dream world, however, I have come to realize that if I remember to come to
HIM first with my problems most of them do not seem so big anymore, and lots of
times I do not even need to do anything about them things seem to work out.
It’s when I get involved again that I get bogged down.
I think I could say this was my
biggest learning curve in 2012 and I realize I am still not all the way there
as I would like to be, always learning every day. I found these scriptures that
help me pull these thoughts together. Let’s look at them together:
Romans 8 (NIV)
Life through the Spirit ~
1 Therefore, there is now no
condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, 2 because through Christ Jesus
the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you[a] free from the law of sin
and death. 3 For what the law was powerless to do because it was weakened by
the flesh,[b] God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to
be a sin offering.[c] And so he condemned sin in the flesh, 4 in order that the
righteous requirement of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live
according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.
5 Those who live according to the
flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in
accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. 6
The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is
life and peace. 7 The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not
submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. 8 Those who are in the realm of the
flesh cannot please God.
9 You, however, are not in the
realm of the flesh but are in the realm of the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of
God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they do not
belong to Christ. 10 But if Christ is in you, then even though your body is
subject to death because of sin, the Spirit gives life[d] because of
righteousness. 11 And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is
living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your
mortal bodies because of[e] his Spirit who lives in you.
12 Therefore, brothers and
sisters, we have an obligation—but it is not to the flesh, to live according to
it. 13 For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the
Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live.
14 For those who are led by the
Spirit of God are the children of God. 15 The Spirit you received does not make
you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received
brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.” 16
The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. 17 Now
if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if
indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.
Present Suffering and Future Glory
18 I consider that our present
sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.
19 For the creation waits in eager expectation for the children of God to be
revealed. 20 For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own
choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope 21 that the
creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into
the freedom and glory of the children of God.
22 We know that the whole
creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the
present time. 23 Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the
Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption to sonship, the
redemption of our bodies. 24 For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is
seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what they already have? 25 But if we hope
for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.
26 In the same way, the Spirit
helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the
Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. 27 And he who
searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes
for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.
28 And we know that in all things
God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to
his purpose. 29 For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to
the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and
sisters. 30 And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified;
those he justified, he also glorified.
More than Conquerors
31 What, then, shall we say in
response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who
did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along
with him, graciously give us all things? 33 Who will bring any charge against
those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. 34 Who then is the one who
condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to
life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. 35 Who shall
separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution
or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? 36 As it is written:
“For your sake we face death all day long;
We are considered as sheep to be
slaughtered.”
37 No, in all these things we are
more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that
neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,[k] neither the present nor
the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in
all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in
Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 16:17-19 (N.I.V.)
17 I urge you,
brothers and sisters, to watch out for those who cause divisions and put
obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Keep
away from them. 18 For such people are not serving our Lord Christ, but their
own appetites. By smooth talk and flattery they deceive the minds of naive
people. 19 Everyone has heard about your obedience, so I rejoice because of
you; but I want you to be wise about what is good, and innocent about what is
evil.
So as we march
through all the challenges of this new year let’s not get caught up in the
infighting of partisan politics and the “he said, she said” GOSSIP that the
bible warns us to stay clear of.
Spend the time
getting closer to Papa God and let HIM direct your path.
He is waiting for
ya.
Seek Him now while
he can be found.
Ya never know when
the door will be shut and then he may say,
“Who are you? I
never knew you.”

Lawsuits Among Believers
1 If any of you has a dispute with another, do you dare to take it before the ungodly for judgment instead of before the Lord's people? 2 Or do you not know that the Lord's people will judge the world? And if you are to judge the world, are you not competent to judge trivial cases? 3 Do you not know that we will judge angels? How much more the things of this life! 4 Therefore, if you have disputes about such matters, do you ask for a ruling from those whose way of life is scorned in the church? 5 I say this to shame you. Is it possible that there is nobody among you wise enough to judge a dispute between believers? 6 But instead, one brother takes another to court—and this in front of unbelievers!
7 The very fact that you have lawsuits among you means you have been completely defeated already. Why not rather be wronged? Why not rather be cheated? 8 Instead, you yourselves cheat and do wrong, and you do this to your brothers and sisters. 9 Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men[a] 10 nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
Sexual Immorality
12 "I have the right to do anything," you say—but not everything is beneficial. "I have the right to do anything"—but I will not be mastered by anything. 13 You say, "Food for the stomach and the stomach for food, and God will destroy them both." The body, however, is not meant for sexual immorality but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body. 14 By his power God raised the Lord from the dead, and he will raise us also. 15 Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ himself? Shall I then take the members of Christ and unite them with a prostitute? Never! 16 Do you not know that he who unites himself with a prostitute is one with her in body? For it is said, "The two will become one flesh."[b] 17 But whoever is united with the Lord is one with him in spirit.[c]
18 Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body. 19 Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? Solomon's Officials and Governors
1 So King Solomon ruled over all Israel. 2 And these were his chief officials: Azariah son of Zadok—the priest;
3 Elihoreph and Ahijah, sons of Shisha—secretaries; Jehoshaphat son of Ahilud-recorder;
4 Benaiah son of Jehoiada—commander in chief; Zadok and Abiathar-priests;
5 Azariah son of Nathan—in charge of the district officers; Zabud son of Nathan—a priest and personal adviser to the king;
6 Ahishar—in charge of the palace; Adoniram son of Abda—in charge of forced labor.
7 Solomon also had twelve district governors over all Israel, who supplied provisions for the king and the royal household. Each one had to provide supplies for one month in the year. 8 These are their names: Ben-Hur—in the hill country of Ephraim;
9 Ben-Deker—in Makaz, Shaalbim, Beth Shemesh and Elon Bethhanan;
10 Ben-Hesed—in Arubboth (Socoh and all the land of Hepher were his
11 Ben-Abinadab—in Naphoth Dor [a] (he was married to Taphath daughter of Solomon
12 Baana son of Ahilud—in Taanach and Megiddo, and in all of Beth Shan next to Zarethan below Jezreel, from Beth Shan to Abel Meholah across to Jokmeam;
13 Ben-Geber—in Ramoth Gilead (the settlements of Jair son of Manasseh in Gilead were his, as well as the district of Argob in Bashan and its sixty large walled cities with bronze gate bars
14 Ahinadab son of Iddo—in Mahanaim;
15 Ahimaaz—in Naphtali (he had married Basemath daughter of Solomon
16 Baana son of Hushai—in Asher and in Aloth;
17 Jehoshaphat son of Paruah—in Issachar;
18 Shimei son of Ela—in Benjamin;
19 Geber son of Uri—in Gilead (the country of Sihon king of the Amorites and the country of Og king of Bashan). He was the only governor over the district.

20 The people of Judah and Israel were as numerous as the sand on the seashore; they ate, they drank and they were happy. 21 And Solomon ruled over all the kingdoms from the River [b] to the land of the Philistines, as far as the border of Egypt. These countries brought tribute and were Solomon's subjects all his life.
22 Solomon's daily provisions were thirty cors [c] of fine flour and sixty cors [d] of meal, 23 ten head of stall-fed cattle, twenty of pasture-fed cattle and a hundred sheep and goats, as well as deer, gazelles, roebucks and choice fowl. 24 For he ruled over all the kingdoms west of the River, from Tiphsah to Gaza, and had peace on all sides. 25 During Solomon's lifetime Judah and Israel, from Dan to Beersheba, lived in safety, each man under his own vine and fig tree.
26 Solomon had four [e] thousand stalls for chariot horses, and twelve thousand horses. [f]
27 The district officers, each in his month, supplied provisions for King Solomon and all who came to the king's table. They saw to it that nothing was lacking. 28 They also brought to the proper place their quotas of barley and straw for the chariot horses and the other horses.

29 God gave Solomon wisdom and very great insight, and a breadth of understanding as measureless as the sand on the seashore. 30 Solomon's wisdom was greater than the wisdom of all the men of the East, and greater than all the wisdom of Egypt. 31 He was wiser than any other man, including Ethan the Ezrahite—wiser than Heman, Calcol and Darda, the sons of Mahol. And his fame spread to all the surrounding nations. 32 He spoke three thousand proverbs and his songs numbered a thousand and five. 33 He described plant life, from the cedar of Lebanon to the hyssop that grows out of walls. He also taught about animals and birds, reptiles and fish. 34 Men of all nations came to listen to Solomon's wisdom, sent by all the kings of the world, who had heard of his wisdom.

Psalm 14
For the director of music. Of David.
1 The fool [a] says in his heart, "There is no God." They are corrupt, their deeds are vile; there is no one who does good.
2 The LORD looks down from heaven on the sons of men to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God.
3 All have turned aside, they have together become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one.
4 Will evildoers never learn— those who devour my people as men eat bread and who do not call on the LORD ?
5 There they are, overwhelmed with dread, for God is present in the company of the righteous.
6 You evildoers frustrate the plans of the poor, but the LORD is their refuge.
7 Oh, that salvation for Israel would come out of Zion! When the LORD restores the fortunes of his people, let Jacob rejoice and Israel be glad!
