Challenges for Prayer
The tropical location and French liberality combine to make this a playground for the most wealthy. Exclusive hotels, clothing-optional beaches, designer-clothing boutiques and cafĂ©s typify the island’s culture. There is little room for or interest in a life of service to Christ. Pray that in the midst of this elegant but hedonistic paradise, people might gain a hunger for an eternal heaven.A variety of churches serves the French, American and Caribbean populations. Many provide church services for holidaymakers as well as locals. Pray for unity and cooperation among the diverse denominations in this place where spiritual apathy is a much greater rival than other denominations.
For an additional Challenge for Prayer see Operation World book, CD-ROM, or DVD-ROM.

Give Me Wisdom
1. Lord there's problems I can't handle
In my walk from day to day
And there's questions I can't answer
And they never go away
But I do the best I can Lord
And I'm kneeling here to pray
It's your wisdom that I need Lord
What I'm praying for today
Chorus:
Give me wisdom, for I am just a fool
Give me power and strengthen me your tool
Above all that I ask and all that I pray
Stay right with me always
And grant me wisdom today
2. I listen to my friends Lord
To their problems and their fears
I am trying to be faithful
Through there laughter and their tears
But their problems are so big Lord
And it seems to much to bear
Don't know what advice to give them
But I know You're always there
Chorus:
3. Then my cell phone rang today
From a friend that I hold dear
But they sounded so worn out
On that borderline of tears
So I tried to calm them down
Find out what went wrong today
Said they wanted just to talk
So I started just to pray
Chorus:
Holding Nothing Back - Tim Hughes
I am chosen
I am free
I am living for eternity
Free now forever
You picked me up
Turned me around
You set my feet on solid ground
Yours now forever
Nothing's gonna hold me back
Nothing's gonna hold me back
Nothing's gonna hold me back
My chains fell off
My heart was free
I'm alive to live for you
I'm alive to live for you
Amazing love how can it be
You gave everything for me
You gave everything for me
You washed my sin and shame away
The slate is clean,
A brand new day
Free now forever
Now boldly I approach your throne
To claim this crown through christ my own
Yours now forever
Nothing's gonna hold me back
Nothing's gonna hold me back
Nothing's gonna hold me back
back
Nothing's gonna hold me back
My chains fell off
My heart was free
I'm alive to live for you
I'm alive to live for you
Amazing love how can it be
You gave everything for me
You gave everything for me
back
Nothing's gonna hold me back
My chains fell off
My heart was free
I'm alive to live for you
I'm alive to live for you
Amazing love how can it be
You gave everything for me
You gave everything for me
My chains fell off
My heart was free
I'm alive to live for you
I'm alive to live for you
Amazing love how can it be
You gave everything for me
You gave everything for me
Free to live
Free to give
Free to be
Free to love you

Acts 12
Peter's Miraculous Escape From Prison
1 It was about this time that King Herod arrested some who belonged to the church, intending to persecute them. 2 He had James, the brother of John, put to death with the sword. 3 When he saw that this met with approval among the Jews, he proceeded to seize Peter also. This happened during the Festival of Unleavened Bread. 4 After arresting him, he put him in prison, handing him over to be guarded by four squads of four soldiers each. Herod intended to bring him out for public trial after the Passover.
5 So Peter was kept in prison, but the church was earnestly praying to God for him.
6 The night before Herod was to bring him to trial, Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains, and sentries stood guard at the entrance. 7 Suddenly an angel of the Lord appeared and a light shone in the cell. He struck Peter on the side and woke him up. "Quick, get up!" he said, and the chains fell off Peter's wrists.
8 Then the angel said to him, "Put on your clothes and sandals." And Peter did so. "Wrap your cloak around you and follow me," the angel told him. 9 Peter followed him out of the prison, but he had no idea that what the angel was doing was really happening; he thought he was seeing a vision. 10 They passed the first and second guards and came to the iron gate leading to the city. It opened for them by itself, and they went through it. When they had walked the length of one street, suddenly the angel left him.
11 Then Peter came to himself and said, "Now I know without a doubt that the Lord has sent his angel and rescued me from Herod's clutches and from everything the Jewish people were hoping would happen."
12 When this had dawned on him, he went to the house of Mary the mother of John, also called Mark, where many people had gathered and were praying. 13 Peter knocked at the outer entrance, and a servant named Rhoda came to answer the door. 14 When she recognized Peter's voice, she was so overjoyed she ran back without opening it and exclaimed, "Peter is at the door!"
15 "You're out of your mind," they told her. When she kept insisting that it was so, they said, "It must be his angel."
16 But Peter kept on knocking, and when they opened the door and saw him, they were astonished. 17 Peter motioned with his hand for them to be quiet and described how the Lord had brought him out of prison. "Tell James and the other brothers and sisters about this," he said, and then he left for another place.
18 In the morning, there was no small commotion among the soldiers as to what had become of Peter. 19 After Herod had a thorough search made for him and did not find him, he cross-examined the guards and ordered that they be executed.
Herod's Death Then Herod went from Judea to Caesarea and stayed there. 20 He had been quarreling with the people of Tyre and Sidon; they now joined together and sought an audience with him. After securing the support of Blastus, a trusted personal servant of the king, they asked for peace, because they depended on the king's country for their food supply.
21 On the appointed day Herod, wearing his royal robes, sat on his throne and delivered a public address to the people. 22 They shouted, "This is the voice of a god, not of a man." 23 Immediately, because Herod did not give praise to God, an angel of the Lord struck him down, and he was eaten by worms and died.
24 But the word of God continued to spread and flourish.

Psalm 69
Psalm 69
New International Version (NIV)
Psalm 69
Psalm 69[a]
For the director of music. To the tune of “Lilies.” Of David. 1 Save me, O God,for the waters have come up to my neck.
2 I sink in the miry depths,
where there is no foothold.
I have come into the deep waters;
the floods engulf me.
3 I am worn out calling for help;
my throat is parched.
My eyes fail,
looking for my God.
4 Those who hate me without reason
outnumber the hairs of my head;
many are my enemies without cause,
those who seek to destroy me.
I am forced to restore
what I did not steal.
5 You, God, know my folly;
my guilt is not hidden from you.
6 Lord, the LORD Almighty,
may those who hope in you
not be disgraced because of me;
God of Israel,
may those who seek you
not be put to shame because of me.
7 For I endure scorn for your sake,
and shame covers my face.
8 I am a foreigner to my own family,
a stranger to my own mother’s children;
9 for zeal for your house consumes me,
and the insults of those who insult you fall on me.
10 When I weep and fast,
I must endure scorn;
11 when I put on sackcloth,
people make sport of me.
12 Those who sit at the gate mock me,
and I am the song of the drunkards.
13 But I pray to you, LORD,
in the time of your favor;
in your great love, O God,
answer me with your sure salvation.
14 Rescue me from the mire,
do not let me sink;
deliver me from those who hate me,
from the deep waters.
15 Do not let the floodwaters engulf me
or the depths swallow me up
or the pit close its mouth over me.
16 Answer me, LORD, out of the goodness of your love;
in your great mercy turn to me.
17 Do not hide your face from your servant;
answer me quickly, for I am in trouble.
18 Come near and rescue me;
deliver me because of my foes.
19 You know how I am scorned, disgraced and shamed;
all my enemies are before you.
20 Scorn has broken my heart
and has left me helpless;
I looked for sympathy, but there was none,
for comforters, but I found none.
21 They put gall in my food
and gave me vinegar for my thirst.
22 May the table set before them become a snare;
may it become retribution and[b] a trap.
23 May their eyes be darkened so they cannot see,
and their backs be bent forever.
24 Pour out your wrath on them;
let your fierce anger overtake them.
25 May their place be deserted;
let there be no one to dwell in their tents.
26 For they persecute those you wound
and talk about the pain of those you hurt.
27 Charge them with crime upon crime;
do not let them share in your salvation.
28 May they be blotted out of the book of life
and not be listed with the righteous.
29 But as for me, afflicted and in pain—
may your salvation, God, protect me.
30 I will praise God’s name in song
and glorify him with thanksgiving.
31 This will please the LORD more than an ox,
more than a bull with its horns and hooves.
32 The poor will see and be glad—
you who seek God, may your hearts live!
33 The LORD hears the needy
and does not despise his captive people.
34 Let heaven and earth praise him,
the seas and all that move in them,
35 for God will save Zion
and rebuild the cities of Judah.
Then people will settle there and possess it;
36 the children of his servants will inherit it,
and those who love his name will dwell there.
