The number of evangelicals has grown in just a few years from nearly zero to several thousand. While not a huge proportion of the population, indications are that many more, while uncommitted to local fellowships, certainly identify with evangelical beliefs.

Challenge for Prayer

Islam is the largest religion in Albania (some say up to 70% Muslim), but this normally extends to an inherited cultural affiliation and little more. Moderate Sunni and the Bektashi Sufi sect are the largest groups. Despite widespread Islamization efforts from abroad spending many millions of dollars, most Albanians resist religious entrenchment. Superstition and folk Islam prosper. Pray for Albanian Muslims to encounter the living Christ.
