Answer to Prayer
Give praise for the slow but steady growth of Turkish evangelical Christianity. Turkish and Kurdish believers probably numbered around 10 in 1960. This number rose to around 4,000 by 2010. While growth is not as rapid as many hoped for or expected, a sense of consolidation and maturation distinguishes the Church today. For an additional Answer to Prayer see Operation World book, CD-ROM, or DVD-ROM.
Challenge for Prayer
The ancient churches survived until the beginning of the 20th Century, but have since been nearly wiped out by massacres (Armenians), severe persecution (Assyrians) and emigration (Greeks, etc). Pray for the remnant that survives – for a re-kindling of faith and a work of the Holy Spirit. Numbers have been reduced to an estimated 130,000 across 12 different traditions. For an additional 11 Challenges for Prayer see Operation World book, CD-ROM, or DVD-ROM.
