Answer to Prayer
Missions vision in the Church – to unreached minorities within China and unevangelized nations beyond – is flourishing. For an additional 8 Answers to Prayer see Operation World book, CD-ROM, or DVD-ROM.

Challenge for Prayer
The ethnic minorities of the province are largely unreached. Among the polytheistic, animist and ancestor-worshipping Tujia, Enshi Miao and Northern Dong, as among the Muslim Hui, Christians make up less than 1% and usually closer to 0.1% of their populations. Pray for their evangelization. For an additional 2 Challenges for Prayer see Operation World book, CD-ROM, or DVD-ROM.

Challenge for Prayer
The less evangelized:a) Changsha, the capital, is where Mao converted to communism – and where Hudson Taylor died and is buried. Its people were notoriously closed to foreign influences such as Christianity. It has perhaps 50,000 Christians out of a metropolitan area population of over six million, most growth resulting from house church evangelists from other parts of China. Rural areas of Hunan have proven much more responsive.
b) The Tujia are one of the larger peoples in the world without a written language, and therefore, none of the Bible. About 2.0% of Tujia are Christian. The majority are animists with particular reverence for white tigers.
c) Other peoples. There are no known believers among the Wunai and Mozhihei. The Iu Mien, Dong and Hmu have tiny minorities of Christians, while the small Uyghur and Hui enclaves also have no known believers or outreach. The Ghao-Xong are marginally reached with 5,000 Catholics.
