Challenges for Prayer

Serbia is a nation with a public relations problem. It sees itself as defender of Europe and the Christian faith against Muslim aggression, as misunderstood and betrayed by the rest of Christendom and as victim of a propaganda war. Conversely, much of the world perceives Serbia as a war-mongering, hyper-nationalist power guilty of ethnic cleansing and atrocities, and as a perpetrator of ethnoreligious hatred. Both views have some justification. A long history of victimization by other nations (Turks, Austrians, Germans, Croats and others) has left a legacy of bitterness. Pray for the healing and redemptive transformation of Serbian identity; a mighty work of God is necessary for this to happen.
The Balkan Wars left a range of unresolved issues: the devastated economy, a fragile democracy, and poor relations with neighbouring countries and treatment of minority groups (including in Kosovo). Resolutions must be found, but a stubborn government and entrenched ethnocentrism in the main faith groups (Orthodoxy, Islam and Catholicism) make political and religious structures part of the problem. Pray that the tiny evangelical community – the only body that has retained multi-cultural fellowships – might prove a catalyst for good.

Baruch Hashem Adonai - Messianic praise (with lyrics)

Baruch Hashem Adonai כבוד שם יהוה
Blessed be the Name of the Lord

Who am I to be part of Your People
The ones that are called by Your Name
Could I be Chosen as one of Your Own
Could it be that our blood line is the same.

How can a stranger a remnant of nations
Belong to this Royal Line
You showed Your grace when the
branches were broken and I grafted into the vine

Baruch Hashem Adonai (2 X)
Blessed be the Name of the Lord
Baruch Hashem Adonai.

How Could You show me
Such bountiful mercy
By taking the life of the Lamb
Your love is greater than I can imagine
I bless You with all that I am

Praise to You Jesus the Veil has been parted
And what once was a secret is known
Now I can cry to You
Abba My Father and Praise You as
one of Your Own.

Baruch Hashem Adonai (2 X)
Blessed be the Name of the Lord
Baruch Hashem Adonai.

Hear My Prayer - Maranatha Singers

Psalm 54

Psalm 54

New International Version (NIV)

Psalm 54

Psalm 54[a]
    For the director of music. With stringed instruments. A maskil[b] of David. When the Ziphites had gone to Saul and said, “Is not David hiding among us?” 1 Save me, O God, by your name;
   vindicate me by your might.
2 Hear my prayer, O God;
   listen to the words of my mouth.
 3 Arrogant foes are attacking me;
   ruthless people are trying to kill me—
   people without regard for God.[c]
 4 Surely God is my help;
   the Lord is the one who sustains me.
 5 Let evil recoil on those who slander me;
   in your faithfulness destroy them.
 6 I will sacrifice a freewill offering to you;
   I will praise your name, LORD, for it is good.
7 You have delivered me from all my troubles,
   and my eyes have looked in triumph on my foes.

Challenges for Prayer

Spiritually, Senegal is both open and closed.The nation enjoys religious freedom and is remarkably tolerant toward other faiths – a point of pride for Senegalese, perhaps because so few Muslims have ever come to Christ. Despite a longstanding Christian presence and outreach, a spiritual heaviness covers the land. Allegiance to religious leaders renewed in each generation prevents any significant people movement to Christ. Virtually all Wolof, Fulbe and Mande peoples remain Muslim. Pray for the spiritual breakthrough for which so many wait.
Islam dominates religious life, growing from about 45% of the population in 1900 to over 90% by 1960. The Muslim Sufi brotherhoods are well organized, wealthy and politically powerful; over 85% of all Muslims belong to one of them. The Mouride Brotherhood is virtually a state within a state, based in their capital, Touba. But aggressive Islamist groups funded by Saudi Arabia and Libya are making inroads and threaten the tolerant status quo. Pray that religious tyranny might be thwarted, and that God may use all forces to draw people to Himself.

Challenges for Prayer

The vast majority of Seychellois claim to be Christian, but evidence of true spiritual transformation seems outweighed by superstition and nominalism. Gris-gris, a voodoo-like African spiritism based on black magic and herbalism, permeates the lives of Christians.Despite the disapproval of religious leaders, most Seychellois remain happy to mix religion into this dangerous cocktail. Pray that the Holy Spirit may bring new life evidenced by repentance and sustained fruit.
Relationships among churches are generally positive, but there is in some areas a lack of unity. The process of translating the Bible into Seselwa is helping relationships. Pray for renewal across all denominations, rather than mere opportunities for cooperation.

Psalm 53

New International Version (NIV)

Psalm 53

Psalm 53[a]
    For the director of music. According to mahalath.[b] A maskil[c] of David. 1 The fool says in his heart,
   “There is no God.”
They are corrupt, and their ways are vile;
   there is no one who does good.
 2 God looks down from heaven
   on all mankind
to see if there are any who understand,
   any who seek God.
3 Everyone has turned away, all have become corrupt;
   there is no one who does good,
   not even one.
 4 Do all these evildoers know nothing?
   They devour my people as though eating bread;
   they never call on God.
5 But there they are, overwhelmed with dread,
   where there was nothing to dread.
God scattered the bones of those who attacked you;
   you put them to shame, for God despised them.
 6 Oh, that salvation for Israel would come out of Zion!
   When God restores his people,
   let Jacob rejoice and Israel be glad!

Proverbs 21 (with text - press on more info.)

I will rest in you

Lord, I'm in the dark,
Seems to me the line is dead when I come calling.
No one there, the sky is falling;

Lord, I need to know.
My mind is playing games again,
You're right where You have always been.

Take me back to You,
The place that I once knew as a little child;
Constantly the eyes of God watched over me.
Oh, I want to be
In the place that I once knew as a little child,
Fall into the bed of faith prepared for me.

I will rest in You,
I will rest in You,
I will rest in You.

Tell me I'm a fool,
Tell me that You love me for the fool I am,
{And*} comfort me like only You can,
And tell me there's a place
Where I can feel Your breath
Like sweet caresses on my face again.

Take me back to You,
The place that I once knew as a little child;
Constantly the eyes of God watched over me.
Oh, I want to be
In the place that I once knew as a little child,
Fall into the bed of faith prepared for me.

I will rest in You,
I will rest in You,
I will rest in You.

I will rest in You,
I will rest in You,
I will rest in You.

La la la la You.
La la la la la.
La la la la la-ah.
(You,) You la la la la You.
La la la la la-ah. (You.)

Take me back to You.
The place that I once knew as a little child;
Constantly the eyes of God watched over me
Oh, I want to be
In the place that I once knew as a little child,
Fall into the bed of faith prepared for me.

I will rest in You,
I will rest in You,
I will rest in You.

I will rest in You,
I will rest in You,
I will rest in You.

Oh, la la la la la
I will rest in You.
(I) I will rest in You. (in You)
I will rest in You. (Sweet caresses)
I will rest in You.
I will rest in You.
(So take me back to You)
I will rest in You (I, I)
I will rest in You.
