Answer to Prayer
Christians are engaging in social causes and impacting the lives of millions. With social programmes once provided solely by the government but now often absent in a privatizing economy, the Church offers a platform to address these needs. Some faith groups form NGOs or serve communities in a less structured manner. The gospel confers strength in Jesus to face life’s challenges and to demonstrate love for others in Christ-like service. For an additional 8 Answers to Prayer see Operation World book, CD-ROM, or DVD-ROM.

Challenge for Prayer
The Church in Hainan grew considerably in recent decades, but not without difficulty. There have been significant divisions between TSPM and house churches as well as among Christian leaders. Likewise, researchers cannot seem to agree on the number of actual Christians in the island (OW’s number is at the high end of estimates in this case). Pray for Christian unity to prevail and for the Church to be a profound witness to the power and authority of Christ. For an additional 2 Challenges for Prayer see Operation World book, CD-ROM, or DVD-ROM.

Challenge for Prayer
Hebei is the heart of Catholicism in China with a large proportion of Catholics. Many remain loyal to the Vatican. They have suffered severely, since they do not submit to state control, but they also continue to grow. Pray for a healthy and helpful relationship between the state-church mechanisms (CPA, TSPM) and their unregistered counterparts. For an additional Challenge for Prayer see Operation World book, CD-ROM, or DVD-ROM.
