Bible Verses about Respect
God created all people, and created them differently for
reasons and purpose we may not understand. Regardless of how we perceive other
people to be, they are God's creations, and it God's will for us to show
respect to everyone. Use these Bible verses to be reminded why respect is
important to show to everyone.
"Here is a simple, rule-of-thumb guide for behavior:
Ask yourself what you want people to do for you, then grab the initiative and
do it for them. Add up God's Law and Prophets and this is what you get.
Be good friends who love deeply; practice playing second
fiddle.
Don't push your way to the front; don't sweet-talk your way
to the top. Put yourself aside, and help others get ahead.
But mostly, show them all this by doing it yourself,
incorruptible in your teaching,
Treat everyone you meet with dignity. Love your spiritual
family. Revere God. Respect the government.
I try my best to be considerate of everyone's feelings in
all these matters; I hope you will be, too.
"Let me give you a new command: Love one another. In
the same way I loved you, you love one another. This is how everyone
will recognize that you are my disciples - when they see the love you have for
each other."
Be a good citizen. All governments are under God. Insofar as
there is peace and order, it's God's order. So live responsibly as a
citizen. If you're irresponsible to the state, then you're irresponsible
with God, and God will hold you responsible. Duly constituted
authorities are only a threat if you're trying to get by with something. Decent
citizens should have nothing to fear. the government working to your
advantage. But if you're breaking the rules right and left, watch out. The
police aren't there just to be admired in their uniforms. God also has an
interest in keeping order, and he uses them to do it. That's why you
must live responsibly - not just to avoid punishment but also because it's the
right way to live. That's also why you pay taxes - so that an
orderly way of life can be maintained. Fulfill your obligations as a
citizen. Pay your taxes, pay your bills, respect your leaders.
And now, friends, we ask you to honor those leaders who work
so hard for you, who have been given the responsibility of urging and guiding
you along in your obedience. Overwhelm them with appreciation and
love!
Appreciate your pastoral leaders who gave you the Word of
God. Take a good look at the way they live, and let their faithfulness instruct
you, as well as their truthfulness. There should be a consistency that runs
through us all. For Jesus doesn't change - yesterday, today,
tomorrow, he's always totally himself.
Children, do what your parents tell you. This is only right. "Honor
your father and mother" is the first commandment that has a promise
attached to it, namely, "so you will live well and have a long
life."
